We really understand students’ anger and frustration in regards to the decisions the University has taken around graduations. The University recently emailed students to outline that they plan to hold physical graduation ceremonies no earlier than September 2021 for last year's graduates, and an online ceremony (in June 2021) and a physical graduation in 2022 for this year's graduates.
The Officers are collecting all your feedback, and we are taking this to the University to make sure your views are being represented - and to make sure the University sees the impact this has had on you. We will ask the University to explain to students the rationale behind the decisions they have made, as at the moment there is no context to the decisions they have taken. We can't promise that we'll be able to change the plans but will try our hardest to work with the University to find a solution that gives you the opportunity you deserve to celebrate the end of an incredibly difficult journey.
We have been receiving lots of emails with your thoughts so please make sure anything you send to us also gets sent to the graduations team at firstname.lastname@example.org. Additionally, as a part of our Better for Brookes Campaign we have been speaking to VCG (Vice Chancellor Group) and they have agreed to do a live Q&A session with us where senior leaders in the University will answer students’ questions. You can register to attend the event here, and submit a question using this form.
