The Creative Writing Society is a group for those who enjoy writing in any capacity, from novels to screenwriting to poetry, regardless of ability or course. Everyone is welcome!

What do we do?

We write! Every week that we meet up we have a planned theme, ranging from creepy and mythology, to colours and carnival. We usually provide pictures for inspiration, as well as writing prompts and guided activities.

These sessions are always very relaxed, you’re welcome to bring friends and to chat and bounce writing ideas off of everyone involved in the society.

You don’t have to have any talent in writing to join, as we have members from across many subjects at Brookes (not just English students), as well as varying talent. Although we encourage members who want to share their writing to do so, you don’t have to share anything, and can just turn up and write if you prefer.

The commitee has recently changed so from the new year we will be running trips, getting hoodies and running competitons!

When do we meet?

We meet up bi-weekly, and have set themes such as Mythology. Depending on the time of year, we run festive sessions such as creepy week for Halloween.

Meetings are based on Headington campus and typically last around 90 minutes.

Information about our society and meetings can be found on our facebook page 'Oxford Brookes creative writing society'. and we encourage members to be as interactive as possible.

Membership fee?

We charge £3 for the academic year, which will subsidise the publication of an anthology at the end of the year.
