Wellbeing Week

Student life can be stressful; you’re adapting to a new place, new people, new accommodation. All of this can be exciting and enjoyable, however it can also be difficult and challenging. Even if you find the switch to university life easy, you might find there comes a point when you aren’t coping with something as well as you thought you would do. It’s okay, to not be okay. The aim of Wellbeing Week is to provide you with opportunities to improve your wellbeing.

One of the things we're doing during Wellbeing Week is distributing this leaflet around the halls. The leaflet shows you where you can find help and support during your time at Brookes. However, this leaflet isn't only helpful to first year students, so we've included it here too.

5 Ways to Wellbeing

1. Connect…

With people around you. With friends, family, colleagues and neighbours. Strengthening these connections will support and enrich you every day.

2. Be active....

Find an activity you enjoy. Go for a walk, get outdoors, garden or dance. Exercising at a level that suits you will make you feel good.  Why not take a look at our range of societies - or the Brookes Active programme - and give something new a go?

3. Take notice…

Be curious. Savour the moment, whether you are walking to uni, eating lunch or talking to friends. Reflecting on your experiences will help you appreciate what matters to you.

4. Keep learning…

Try something new. Rediscover an old interest. Set a new challenge you will enjoy achieving such as signing up for a course or cooking a new meal.

5. Give…

Do something nice for a friend or stranger. Thank someone. Smile. Volunteer your time. Involving yourself in the the wider community can be incredibly rewarding.
