Harriet Cherry: VP (Academic Experience)

Head shot of Harriet

My name is Harriet Cherry and I’m your Vice President of Academic Experience at Brookes Union. I ran for office because I really enjoyed being the Department Rep for Social Sciences last year, and I wanted to continue working to represent students on academic issues. I recently graduated with a degree in Anthropology and I am passionate about education, teaching, and learning as well as making these things accessible and enjoyable for all Brookes students.

This year I want to widen participation in our system of academic representation; implement an ongoing mechanism for students to give anonymous feedback on their courses, modules, and departments; create Student-Staff charters to provide clear clarification on what students and staff can expect from one another; and lobby the university to improve their use of lecture capture and online coursework submission to improve accessibility.

However, this isn’t really about what I want - it’s about you, and what you want and need from your Union and your university. So talk to me! Let me know what your academic experience has been like at Brookes and what changes you want to see. And if you’re a new student, what do you expect from your time here at Brookes? How do you think your Union should represent you on academic issues?

Send me an email at su.academicexperience@brookes.ac.uk or search on Facebook for ‘VP Academic Experience’ and send me a message to let me know what you think and what you want!
